Double hits typically are reduced when you tap slightly harder. Other techniques are to harden the tip or reduce the hammer weight. Another technique is to relax your strike so that you do not gripe the hammer as hard. In the case of the smaller hammer the "rubber pencil" technique using an almost "whipping" like strike of the hammer is best. In the worst case some tools are so flexible you will find it very hard to eliminate double hits and will have to just accept them. In that case you can go into the sensors tab and turn off the double hit detection.
