How does the ring technique work with Rego-Fix PG collets?

Won't the ring get in the way of the press die?

Use the ring to set the desired projection on the endmill. Insert it into the PG collet and adjust the backup screw until it is contact with the back of the endmill shank. Remove the ring and you can now install the endmill and collet to the correct projection. For maintaining balance, align the chosen flute (if it is a variable pitch) with one of the slots in the collet and align that with your witness mark on the toolholder.
