Why are Two Flutes Endmills used on Makino MAG machines?

Last Updated: Sep 17, 2015 07:48PM EDT
Refer to this article.

The MAG spindle’s frequency is 1100 Hz or cycles per second. Divide that by two flutes and multiply the remainder by 60 seconds to the get the revolutions per minute. It comes out to 33,000 RPM
(1100/2)*60 = 33,000 RPM
If you use 3 flutes at this frequency, here is the result:
(1100/3)*60 = 24,000 RPM
That means the stable speeds would be 24,000 or 48,000 RPM (the spindle’s maximum is 33,000 RPM)
